Abstract

This article analyzes from the perspecti ve of the semiotics of culture five curatorial texts written by Fabiana Barreda in 1998 and 1999 that were part of the curatorial program of the Art Gallery of the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Buenos Aires. In these writings, which correspond to the photographic exhibitions Crónicas urba nas (1998), Ciudad satélite (1999), Arqueología urbana (1999) and Interiores (1999), we postulated as a hypothesis the proble matization of postmodern space based on the notion of a subjective space that operated as the axis of spatial referencing and allowed us to map the environment. In this formulation, Barreda used terms associated with romanticism to construct a reflection on urban and natural space that challenged postmodern proposals on the impossibility of mapping the new «hyperspace».
