If they are apparently unrecoverable once it happened, from what voices can we build their stories? Which materials set up their archives? What place does the body and memory take? After first approaches to three performing artists personal archives from La Plata —Laura Valencia, Nora Oneto, Carolina Donnantuoni— it aims to think about stage event remains as essential sources for developing the histories of local performing arts from a critical, situated and affective perspective. In addition, it considers the ways of looking towards the past that those materials, embodied memories and singular stories enable.
María Eugenia Bifaretti Copyright (c) 2024 María Eugenia Bifaretti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/deed.es https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1886 Thu, 13 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Memories and Uses of The Past in Public Space https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1891
The present work intends to inquire about a situated experience of construction of a narrative space of social memory about the 1955 coup d’état perpetrated by the Armed Forces in Argentina, namely, the Museo a Cielo Abierto Muralismo y Memoria. Registered within the wide range of possibilities on which the collective memory is anchored, the murals that make up this public policy that constitutes the Museum, become places of memory that have an eminently pedagogical function in the sense of intergenerational transmission and symbolic repair.
Pamela Sofía Dubois, María Inés Gannon, María Victoria Trípodi Copyright (c) 2024 Pamela Dubois, María Inés Gannon, María Victoria Trípodi https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/deed.es https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1891 Wed, 03 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Spectators Topic: A Method https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1906
This article proposes a method for tracking, inventorying and systematizing a «tópica» (set of topics) of spectator references in fictional and non-fictional texts, in prose or verse. We call spectator topics to the thematic repertoire of «places» or thematic nuclei on the issue under study. The objective is to build a tool for writing a comparative history of theater spectators. The theoretical and epistemological basis are found in the philosophy of theatre, phenomenology and momparative studies of theatrical expectation.
Jorge Dubatti Copyright (c) 2024 Jorge Dubatti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/deed.es https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1906 Mon, 16 Sep 2024 00:00:00 +0000 the Noble Ultimation of The Beast https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1945
This paper analyzes the exhibition La no ble ultimación de la bestia (2017). This was created by the Pampean duo Moho, compo sed of Agustina Arrarás and Nicolás Onis chuk, and was presented at the Museo Pro vincial de Artes de la Provincia de La Pampa, Argentina. The exhibition deals with a cri tical approach to part of the history of the Pampean territory using the archives around the first hunting reserve founded at the be ginning of the 20th century. The exhibition, through a montage that includes different media, intermingles real and fictionalized documents to create a fragmentary narrative around the Pampean landscape. This exer cise allows the artists to create new imagi naries about the territory and also to build a reflexive memory. In this way they question part of the official historical discourses about this singular geography.
Pablo Salvador Boido Copyright (c) 2024 Pablo Salvador Boido https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/deed.es https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1945 Wed, 13 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Desires, Fantasies and Daydreams https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1951
In a post-dictatorship context, the gay body was in a critical position, being urgent the need to rethink it. Therefore, the Argentine Homosexual Community (CHA) published the magazine Vamos a Andar between 1986 and 1992, where it established a field of strength and defense against a normative that marginalized the gay community. It is pertinent to investigate the role played by the magazine as the main source of promo tion of the CHA and to think of its covers as a shaping force that tensions how this co llective was represented in the mass media. Through the analysis of these covers, the po tentiality of the bodies that carried out this magazine and the relevance they had in the conformation of a possible horizon is explo red in depth.
Agustin Poletti Copyright (c) 2024 Agustin Poletti https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/deed.es https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1951 Wed, 27 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Morphology of the Baroque Altarpiece in Cordova (Spain) https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1986
The study of Baroque culture raises, in the artistic field, the analysys and evolution of the altarpiece, an interesting manifesta- tion and faithful refection of the social, re- ligious and cultural events of the time. In it, the artistic languages adopted by sculptors and other artists were expressed, varying their main characteristics depending on the place or artistic school. In this work we will analyze the artistic dimension that the Baroque altarpiece achieved in the city of Cordova (Spain) during the 17th and 18th centuries, its integrating elements and main examples and artists.
Juan Luque Carrillo Copyright (c) 2025 https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1986 Fri, 07 Mar 2025 00:00:00 +0000 Translating and Dismantling the Myth https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1895
This review presents a tour of (Des)ordenando a Isadora Duncan (2023), by Josefina Zuain. In this book, the author proposes the translation and updating of the reading of Duncan’s autobiography entitled My Life in order to return to certain ways in which the history has configured her image. For this purpose, Zuain carries out a series of tasks that includes the translation of other texts by and about Duncan as well as the incorporation of unpublished documents. In this way the author suggests criticisms, offers counterpoints, and questions certain strategies of self-legitimization to dismantle the myth of Isadora Duncan as the creator of modern dance, supporting a revision of her memoirs.
Ludmila Hlebovich Copyright (c) 2024 Ludmila Hlebovich https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/deed.es https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1895 Fri, 09 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Drawing the Space Between https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1946
This review focuses on the book Visiones Laterales. Cine y video experimental en Chi le (1957-2017) (2018), by Claudia Aravena and Iván Pinto. Throughout the pages of this book, the authors intentionally avoid the de marcation of a disciplinary field and its alle ged specificity, to explore instead the links that the experimental moving image has established through time with territories be yond itself —the theater, the visual arts, TV, and documentary films, but also politics, the academic field, archives and Chile itself.
Mariela Cantú Copyright (c) 2024 Mariela Cantú https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/deed.es https://papelcosido.fba.unlp.edu.ar/ojs/index.php/boa/article/view/1946 Wed, 13 Nov 2024 00:00:00 +0000
