Charity Books Project. Picture Book Experiences
Keywords:
Picture album, image, reading, language, visual cultureAbstract
The present work aims to describe the objectives of the Charity Books Project that belongs to subject Visual Language 3 of the Facultad de Bellas Artes (FBA) of the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (UNLP) in order to reflect on the role of the picture book as a feasible object of approach in visual culture studies. As a contemporary cultural artifact, the picture album is presented as an object permeable to a variety of analytical relationships and theoretical corpus of disciplines. The ductility and complexity of the picture album question traditional reading parameters: linearity, explanatory redundancy between text and image. In this context, new picture album tendencies seem to replicate the multifocal reading of digital hypertext in the realm of the analogue image.Downloads
