Abstract

The images act like drugs: they stimulate and anesthetize. Despite the overexposure to visual stimuli, for Alejandra Castillo, society has never been more anesthetized than in this digital age. What powers do images contain? How can we fight them or make use of them? Adicta imagen takes up concepts from gender studies to discuss body visibility; with the warning not to confuse marketing with political visibility, nor a posting on social networks with revolution.
