Maruja Mallo, woman artist, modernity, exileAbstract
The Galician artist Maruja Mallo expressed in her life and in her work the new and often difficult paths opened to women artists during the first half of the 20th century. The aim of this article is to analyze some key aspects of her trajectory in the light of the possibilities opened by the feminist critique to the history of art. We will concentrate on works that maintain a link with urban modernity and the new female model. A second aim concerns the examination of certain features of Maruja Mallo’s activity in her exile in Argentina, where she developed an important activity.Downloads
