Abstract

The essay is divided into three parts. The first part describes an historical and marginal part of southern Italy called Lucania, through the analysis of a book by Carlo Levi, and some etnological documentaries; the second part describes some works by the director and poet Pasolini and the anthropologist De Martino that deepen the concept of «marginality» and «subalternity». The third part is a «montage experiment» inspired by Aby Warburg’s Atlas Mnemosyne.
