Abstract

This work is the synthesis of an investigative process in the National Historical Museum that began by analyzing the concept of verisimilitude in the work of Juan Manuel Blanes La ocupación militar de Río Negro-1879 [The Military Occupation of Rio Negro-1879]. Based on the documentation discussed, we propose as a working hypothesis that Blanes’ work forms a significant historical and ideological, western and civilized system. In the series that we established as the reason for our investigation, we find that the concept of verisimilitude was questioned, since the image was the result of a construction of visuality, never neutral.
