Graciela Paraskevaídis was Latin American by a conscious effort based on an ideological positioning, inherent to her professional practice. Her time at the Centro de Altos Estudios Musicales (CLAEM), where she was a fellow in the years 1965 to 1966, led to this breaking point by connecting her with colleagues from different Latin American countries. To uphold the impact of this experience on her music, we will analyze 5 piezas para piano written in 1964, and we will contrast this analysis with her later piano work. This will allow us to characterize qualities that define her music and thus begin to understand how these qualities were dawning in her early work. We will also be able to document artistic pursues that she may have discarded.Downloads
