La Ciudad: Incorporation in The Music of Cergio Prudencio

This article will try to track in “La Ciudad” (1980) the strategies used by the composer Cergio Prudencio to integrate the elements of Aymara musical practice and the forms of musical production of the Western tradition from his idea of incorporation. This research contributes, on one hand, to the systematization and description of significant procedures for the development of Latin American academic music at the end of the 20th century; and on the other hand, to describe the solutions founded by the composer to incorporate the two practices mentioned in equity terms (an idea that we will develop below).Downloads
