Abstract

This article deals with the imagistic content of two letters with drawings byJan Toorop, which are part of the Fondation Custodia collection. The textinvestigates the ability of the drawing, in the epistolary support, to capture aninstant of the artist’s trajectory. In addition to a merely documentary function, the illustration becomes a record of the expression and creation from theartist who conceived it.
