Abstract

The facsimile edition of Vagón de Arte: ver, oír, leer [1949] (2022) by Ediciones Buenos Aires tells the story of an avant-garde project that emerged at the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts during the administration of Emilio Pettoruti in 1930 and carried out later during the first peronism. In 1949, with the purpose of decentralizing art and highlighting its educational function, an itinerant museum was created to tour the province of Buenos Aires, taking with it various artistic expressions. The recovery of the Art Car seeks to offer a historical perspective on the museum’s strategies to disseminate its heritage beyond its limits, rescuing the importance and originality of this pioneering project.
