Abstract

The article examines the relationship between the film essay Patience (after Sebald), by GrantGee, and the book The Rings of Saturn, by W. G. Sebald. Through the essayistic featuresof Gee’s film, the author explores the correlations between literary and cinematographicdiscourse, together with the difficulty of considering it as an adaptation. Thinking about thefilm as a response to the book, the text explores the dimensions of the dialogue betweenliterature and cinema, as well as the modes of meditation on travel, temporality and memoryinscribed in both works.
