Colonized Voices in Latin America. Decolonizing the Ontology of Choral Practice

The choral practice has been conceptualized from the underlying conceptual model ofauthority power and conductor-directed subordination, but according to current theoriesof social psychology of music and embodied music cognition it could acquire a differentlook. Focusing on the historiography of choral practice as a colonized practice, we madea historic and socially review of choir and conductor’s cultural model. Then, starting fromclassical perspective proper definitions, we proposed psychological bases to criticallyrevise this conception, and finally we ended up discussing how choral practice wasdeveloped in Latin America, towards a reformulation of its ontology as a meaning practicefrom a decolonial perspective.Downloads
