Abstract

The construction of the meaning of homeland and the recovery of identity as a nation through the practices of contemporary visuality constitute a notion that I try to categorize as Visual Sovereignty. The analysis of the Mujer Bandera, performance given during the bicentennial celebration of Argentina in Plaza de Mayo, is the engine of this speculation about the kitsch system and cultural colonization.
