Abstract

This article presents a tour of general histories of Argentine art published in the 20th century from the theoretical perspective of studies on written culture. It reflects on the history of the genre in Argentina based on the relationship maintained with different practices and publishing spaces as a place of inscription for the artistic past. Through this tour, we aim to emphasize the insistence of certain meanings assigned to writing and history in the production of these cultural artifacts.
