Abstract

The concept of musical gesture refers to a holistic conception, where the harmonic, melodic, rhythmic and metric materials, together with indications of tempo, joints, dynamics and timbres interact in the quite indivisible one. This conception will be raised in the perceptual frame across which the concept of musical gesture is approached. In this way, we will study aspects of the intrinsic significance of a musical piece of work to arrive at its expressive, metaphorical, symbolic content and its social belonging.
