Abstract

Within a larger project that, from a historiographical perspective looks into debates about the construction of a national identity from the magazines of the ‘20s and ‘30s in Latin America, the present work reveals the stance taken by the Revista de Arquitectura towards the modernizing plan that resulted from Le Corbusier visit in 1929.From the analysis of his publications, we will approach the political and aesthetics disputes that arose within the disciplinary field of Architecture in search of a national art. Focusing on the fact that this magazine did not account for Le Corbusier’s visit to our country, we will analyze two texts published in its first issue (1915) in order to see whether that omission was due to or related to the guidelines that Revista de Arquitectura established as its editorial basis.
