Abstract

The study on the city deals with the elaboration of images in the urban space to recognize the significant dimension of this production in the public stage, from the informative and the symbolic. It is a problem that exists in the urban visual communication and that recognizes the multicultural panorama, builds sense and registers the changes that result from the development of the social events occurred in the area; i.e. a semantic field that grows and varies constantly. The characteristics of the context, the requests of the people and their intervention configure the particular corpus of the civic expression. The analysis of the city and the urban text will allow us to contribute to the academic task in the restructure of the areas of the designers’ competence and in the actualization of the conceptual and graphic works contemplated in the curricula.
