This article approaches the modes of operation of Mexican cinema before the Covid-19 pandemic, relfecting on its theoretical and economic-political foundations. These pillars are seen from a decolonial position, which supports the perception of a modern-colonial domestic film industry. It also introduces the term 'media coloniality' to describe the pattern that has guided the audiovisual sector since the 1990s in Mexico. This analysis is part of a political and social conjunctural moment in which we appeal to strategies for decolonizing cinema and its practices.Downloads
