Abstract

During the months of February and March of 2017, the exhibition Ilustres desconocidas, some women in the collection took place in the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts Emilio Pettoruti of La Plata, Buenos Aires. The objective of the exhibition was to introduce the productions and the trajectory of women artists who had gone unnoticed in the discourses of the history of Argentine art, aiming to build a curatorial narrative that allowed us to raise questions about the place of women in the history of the conformation of the collection and the museum. In this article we review some aspects of the research work that guided the curatorship of the exhibition.
