This article analyzes two oil paintings by Venezuelan ar tist Arnaldo Delgado. Through a case study, the results suggest that the horror specimens portrayed by Delgado seem to be ventriloquists of their own existence. It also suggests that in his painting we witness a strange alche my that, first, would give life to the very transmutation of dollmaking into a pictorial work of art, and second, in the form of an amalgamation of dollmaking and horror, would make possible the artist’s aesthetic-ontological shift precisely in the direction of an expressionism of horror.References
