Abstract
This article pretends to review the links established between the immersive installations with the theatrical, a qualifier which transcended its original field to contribute to reformulate the visual arts in the twentieth century. The considerations about how the theatrical language influences is essential to understand the nature of countless contemporary productions, in which installations occupy a privileged place. The dou- ble perspective about not only look at but also be looked at appears as the central characteristic in these types of dialogues. The concept of theater as an event seems to be actualized in the practices of installations, in spite of its reproducible nature invites the viewer to a unique experience.
